1. Our role
Give Time is a volunteer scheduling platform. We provide the technology that organisations use to manage their volunteer programmes. We are not a safeguarding authority and do not conduct safeguarding assessments, DBS checks, or risk assessments on behalf of any organisation.
2. Organisation responsibilities
Each organisation using Give Time is responsible for:
- Conducting DBS checks and references for their volunteers as appropriate to their setting
- Having their own safeguarding policy and designated safeguarding lead
- Providing safeguarding training to staff and volunteers
- Ensuring their volunteer activities comply with the Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014, and any sector-specific regulations
3. What we store
Give Time does not store DBS certificate numbers, safeguarding records, medical information, or any sensitive personal data as defined by UK GDPR Article 9. We store only the data described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Reporting concerns
If you become aware of a safeguarding concern while using Give Time:
- Report it directly to your organisation's designated safeguarding lead
- If you believe a child or vulnerable adult is in immediate danger, call 999
- You can also contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or Childline on 0800 1111
5. Our commitments
If a safeguarding concern is reported to us through the platform, we will:
- Notify the relevant organisation administrator immediately
- Preserve any relevant records or communications
- Cooperate fully with any statutory investigation
- Not delete or modify any data that may be relevant to an investigation
